Every day many writers and bloggers everywhere are asking the same question, actually, it’s a pretty important question to answer.
So, with a lot of great blogs out there, how do you make yours stand out? How can you increase your readership and, more important, how do you maintain them coming back for more?
There are many lists out there of tricks and tips for writing a successful blog but these are the ones I consider to be most important.
#1 Find a niche
When you are looking for the topic you want to write for your blog, always try to look for a niche and then make sure you stay on topic. Readers, and search engines, love the specific and trendy topics, so if you can find an crazy and unusual topic that other people aren’t writing about on a daily basis, you have big chances to have a winner.
Tips: Even though your subject can be competitive, there’s always a different approach to take – you just need to find it! Take a look at these successful blogs in competitive sectors to find how they differentiate themselves. Most of them use humor, controversy, analytics or target audience.
Passion for writing is really important, if you want your blog’s going to take off, then that means writing about something that really likes you.
If you’re not really in what are you writing about and you see it exclusively as way to make money,– maybe you’ve read or someone told you that writing about a certain subject will make you earn more money than something you actually want to write about – then means it’s the end. If your content agonizes, the consequences are pretty obvious – your blog will suffer too.
Going back to the SEO remark in the previous section, integration is really important. It’s a great idea to link your website with your current blog (if possible) because if you’re seeking to earn money from your blog then SEO is extremely important. If your actual website has a strong SEO profile then it’ll make it more useful to reach bloggers, and that’s where you’ll make money.
Tips: If you don’t have a site already, don’t panic! You can still start a great blog but it might take you longer to get referrals through other blogger outreach as you’ll have less ‘advantages’ to market or reach further with. Keep Calm. Blogging has a domino effect – the more you write and put in great content, the more shares and comments you’ll get and the bigger you’ll grow!
Now this is something that bloggers are usual pretty nervous with and therefore skips, but it’s an important key to success.
Open a blog and gaining hundreds of readers with no marketing effort just can’t happen. Marketing is key. But, there are many things that can be done. Whether you choose to write about subjects that are trendy in the searches right now or you start comment on other people’s blogs to try to get a little publicity for your blog, it’s up to you how market your blog, just make sure you do.
If you’re blogging about subjects that people are really looking for, then they should be talking about it. Despite what you may think, asking people to do comments on your blog isn’t crazy, it’s essential.
People is looking for interaction so if you’re solicit them to share their opinions on your content they’re sure to do so. Make sure you’re ready to answer to contributions and great feedback and of course don’t forget to be friendly and welcoming. Remember, these are your followers/readers and you want them to return.
#6 No Mistakes
However it’s the last point it’s also is one of the most important, you should always verify your work. If you want to become a prosperous blogger, a person that listen to and base their perspective upon, you really need to make sure you’re not doing simple mistakes in your writing.
Don’t get me wrong, anyone is perfect and we always make mistakes, but you can buy spell-checking and proof reading (Microsoft Office is great but maybe not enough). You can save your reputation and credibility, you’ll also preventing negative Search engine Optimization too.
Now is your turn!
There are so many ways to make a blog successful but having and putting together the core ingredients right is crucial. If you’re thinking on start a blog or already have one (without much success), these recommendations should help you focus your roadmap to blogging victory.
