We dedicate hours to the design, to choose the size of the logo, where we put the link to Twitter, what favicon we use, sometimes we obsess over the texts … but what about the accommodation? Seriously, many times we do not consider the importance of hosting for eCommerce.

What hosting for eCommerce to choose?
It is a question that does not have a single answer because it depends from the budget to the selected platform.
Anyway I will get wet and recommend a few hostings for online stores that are interesting, this is my top:
Webempresa
You may not yet know it, but Webempresa is a very interesting option for eCommerce assembled in Prestashop.
All the plans specially designed for this CMS, from the most economical, give you very good benefits. From a 99.9% guaranteed uptime or a backup every 4 hours, to the free SSL certificate and, of course, customer service in Spanish 24/7.
Loading
Another national hosting that works very well is Loading I especially like to host projects in WordPress.
In terms of benefits, without being particularly disruptive, it must be said that they have a very competitive price-quality ratio.
CDMon
These guys from CDMon are not new to the block either, in fact these days they are celebrating 15 years of experience.
They have some remarkable options as a test platform to which you can upload the projects to test them. The most suitable plans for eCommerce are from the Senior onwards.
Gigas
By adding a cloud hosting that are also creatures of God and work very, very well we could quote Gigas.
Their VPS solutions in the cloud go as a shot although in price it is certain that they are in a segment a bit higher than what has been commented so far. If you are interested in the Cloud model you can also have a look at what Stackscale offers
If you are looking for something specialized 100% in Prestashop, you also have the hosting of friends of Soy.es or Professional Hosting.
Do you want to know what I use to recommend these hostings and not others? Well, keep reading …
How important is hosting for eCommerce?
Well, I’ll tell you that for me, although it is too often overlooked, it is one of the critical aspects for many reasons.
Importance of hosting reliability and performance
You have an eCommerce mounted on Magento that is a real treat, you have invested a lot of pasta but you are satisfied with the final result.
SEO, SEM, social, email marketing, a blog with a very high rate of publication … and you do not sell anything, why? Well, it can influence the one that falls every 5 minutes, the performance is a mess with what, when it works, it takes another 5 minutes to load each page and the visitor goes very frustrated taking his money with him.
An eCommerce needs a hosting that is always up (or at least as close as possible 100% of the time), that loads quickly and endures the type with an interesting amount of recurring connections.
For security
This is not a minor issue, if you do not want to have a serious problem really better your eCommerce is hosted in a hosting as safe as possible (and more seeing how is putting the yard with attacks, ransomwares and others).
Faced with an eventual hack you are exposing very sensitive data of your customers, not only your credit cards, which is what always worries the most, there is also the issue of the treatment of files with personal data stored by the hosting and the cigars that may be derived from its misuse and come hand in hand with the LOPD.
For SEO
Why SEO? Hosting has a lot to do with SEO. On the one hand the loading speed, which when it is very slow, slows down the indexing and the crawl budget is wasted, the pogo sticking and the bounce rate increase … one frame.
Nor should we forget that it is still important where the datacenter is located (especially recommended in the country where we want to position and especially NOT recommended in countries with terrible infrastructure or that pick up waste)
When it’s shared, ojito to the neighborhood, because if our online store has ip neighbors to a few pages of porn … the search engines will look at you regularly. You can check it here
For service
Nobody is safe from a brown and when they appear you better have someone to respond and do it quickly.
I’ve lost count of the times someone has screwed up (including oneself)
and I had to resort to technical or customer service. Precisely because of this people need to speak your language (if possible literally) and respond quickly.
For me the subject of backups is capital, that sometimes you find unpleasant surprises at the time of restoration. Put to ask you to make a few backup copies a day.
Flexibility and versatility
Always look for a hosting that gives you options both start and face a growth that requires new features.
Make sure you have a sufficiently broad and well-balanced offer so that you pay exactly for what you need, but that allows you to do an upgrade in an agile way when you need for example a higher transfer rate.
Among the options, always check if you have these modalities available:
- Shared: it is always the cheapest, although it has its disadvantages because, as we said, you are exposed to what your neighbors do (and not only porn, if they throw the server you will fall with them)
- VPS: they are private, but virtual servers. Their performance is superior to shared hostings but they have limitations that do not exist in the dedicated ones.
- Dedicated: servers that are under the control of the client, not the hosting company and what is more important: no resources are shared with any third party
Well, nothing, I’m taken care of and I get a hosting for eCommerce that is worth it, then do not tell me they were not warned.
