Have you ever heard about Pokémon Go? If you don’t know what is this app about, let’s start from the beginning. Pokémon is the short name of “pocket monsters,” and is a really popular franchise coming from Japan. In Pokémon, monsters roam everywhere (forest, sea, deserts), and your job is to look for them, capture, and train them. Later you put them in battle against other monsters.
What is this Pokémon Go about? It’s an augmented reality mobile game that drives you to walk around your city or neighborhood catching monsters. It was worth two months ago in $200 million, and this only just one month after its release!
With the last report on August, we know that the number of active users worldwide is around 30,000,000 per day…
So, with this volume of people playing Pokémon Go, we are not talking just about just catching Pokémon in the city. It’s a app/game that businesses should be using for their marketing campaigns.
Now you must be thinking…how a business can get advantage of Pokémon Go?

The shopping mall ION Orchard was one of the first to cash in on the game, they knew what there were doing. They started using “lures” almost immediately when Pokémon was released in Singapore.
However, even though the volume of people was much higher than other days, some businesses discovered that the Pokémon Go players were there mainly to catch them all and not to shop.
3. Resorts World Sentosa (RWS)
They planned to use the “lures” at various timings inside Universal Studios and the S.E.A. Aquarium, as well as outside the two attractions at popular Pokestops the Lake of Dreams, Festive Walk and Forum at Basement 1.

Take Note…
Businesses who are close to a Pokestop or Gym on Yelp should take advantage of the Yelp filter. Now you can look for businesses with a nearby PokéStop.
If you’re near a gym, take screenshots of Pokémon and post it in your social media channels. You can offer discounts for those who may want a break before, during or after their combats.
Using Lures also can help you to attract people to your place, but definitely doing a good campaign offering some promotions or doing something viral it’s the best. So buy those lures, post offers and special Pokémon events on social media channels. Be a business that is “catching” in Pokemon Go.
